EASTER DAY

PSALM 114

When the people went out from the land of exile,
The people of God’s promise from captors whose speech was strange to us,
Our liberated people became God's dwelling place,
Our thankful people God’s dominion.
The sea looked and fled; the river Jordan turned back.
The mountains skipped like rams, the hills like lambs.
Why was it, O sea, that you fled? O Jordan River, that you turned back?
O mountains, that you skipped like rams? O hills, like lambs?
Tremble, O earth, at the presence of the Holy One,
At the presence of the God who blessed our ancestors,
Who turned the rock into a pool of water, the flinty rock into a fountain.
