Annual Meeting 2007 Welcome

WELCOME TO ANNUAL MEETING 2007
"BEACONS OF HOPE"

LETTER FROM OUR MODERATOR, EPPIE ENCABO

Welcome to the 2007 Annual Meeting of the Northern California Nevada Conference!

I am honored and privileged to be your moderator this year. For churches I have had an opportunity to visit, I was able to witness your faith in action. You have allowed me to participate in both your happy and sad occasions: church anniversaries, ordinations and installations, bidding goodbye to loved ones, and relocation services. Because of those visits, I wish I had many more Sundays before this meeting to worship and fellowship with all of you I have not yet met.

This Annual Meeting will be a time for celebration of the UCC’s 50th anniversary, Rev. Mary Susan Gast’s 10th anniversary as Northern California/Nevada’s Conference minister, and a cultural presentation to reflect on the rich diversity of our Conference. During the gathering, you will have opportunities to attend workshops focusing on issues of justice, educational tools and leadership, among others. Youth and young adult programs, immersion trips, i.e. bike hikes to the lighthouse, are also among the options available for our attendees.

The experiences gleaned as Conference moderator have enriched my Christian journey, and I hope you will also be able to share this same experience at Asilomar. May this Annual Meeting be meaningful and memorable whether this is your first time to attend or you are a returning participant. May you continue to LET YOUR LIGHT SHINE (Matthew 5: 14-16).

I look forward to breaking bread with you.

Thank you to the following members of the Conference Annual Planning Committee for your continued guidance on this journey: Mary Susan Gast, Jack Dawson, Joy Davis, David Bergman-Hill, Deborah Streeter, Sharon MacArthur, Rachel Ciupek- Reed, Renie Stamm-Kirk, Annette Cook, Leomyr de Jesus, Melinda McLain, Kevin Manz, Becky Anton, Adam Blons, Faith Burgess, Dick Hom, Roy Mosley, Lorene Kiger and Tammy Nelson. You have been my Beacons of Hope especially when a storm crossed my path. You continue to fully encourage, support and inspire me. You stepped in when I thought I could not go continue. I do not think I could have done this without you. Thank you so much.
