The mission of the Earth Stewards is:
1) to generate a growing awareness of God’s living earth; 2) to support the movement for the integrity of creation, justice, and peace for all beings; 3) to encourage and support individual members, congregations, and the larger church and community to integrate sustainable practices into our lives as a response to God’s covenant with all creation.
More specifically, we seek to challenge, inspire, and support members, friends, Congregations, the Conference and associated bodies to:
Acknowledge and lighten the daily ecological impact of our lifestyle and business choices on our world;
Advocate for ecologically informed political action;
Engage in and promote the study of our Biblical and historical heritage of caring about the environment;
Transform our perception of creation: Earth is neither an object nor solely a resource for and instrument of human economic development.
Rather, Earth is the very Body of Christ, of which we are all members, an ongoing source of revelation, and an intrinsically valuable living system;
Create models for an ethical, reverential, and reciprocal relationship to the natural world.
We will achieve this through:
Generating a network of ecologically conscious resources available to enhance education, worship, spiritual connection, activism, theological and ethical reflection and consumer choices.
Building a communication network to facilitate the sharing of ideas through e-mail up-dates, an interactive website, workshops, retreats, trainings and worship experiences.
We invite you to join us.
