Lenten Devotions in Hard Economic Times

TWENTY-SECOND DAY OF LENT
                        MARCH 13

 II Corinthians 5: 16

We don’t evaluate people by what they have
Or how they look.
We looked at the Messiah that way once
And got it all wrong…

Oh yeah.
We blew it big time.

Promise us a savior,
And our imagination thins
To
An impossibly narrow-orbed
Orbit
Of celestial largesse
Revolving
Around our yearnings.

Our stunted impulses
Perturb
The flight path of
Deliverance.

We get it all wrong
When we forget
That

Heavenly physics
Mandates
An elliptical course
For salvation,
With the
Galactic and Eternal Will
Of Righteousness and Love
As focus,
And humankind
Attracted into the
Choreography
Of liberation.
