Stanley C. Altrock died on April 21 at age 76.  No memorial service was held.  Stan is survived by his daughter Laura.  Memorial contributions may be sent to Lancaster Theological Seminary, 555 West James St., Lancaster PA 17603.  Stan graduated from Lancaster Theological Seminary and was ordained in 1959.  He served a church in Texas before becoming a chaplain and serving in Camarillo and Sacramento.  Stan served on the faculty of the Clinical Pastoral Training Program at St. Elizabeth’s Hospital in Washington DC.   Stan also served as a Navy Reserve chaplain for 19 years.

Daniel Aprá died on June 11 at age 94.  A memorial service was held on June 20 at First Congregational UCC, Berkeley.  Dan is survived by his wife Joy.  Condolences may be sent to Joy Aprá, 110 41st St., Apt. 601, Oakland CA 94611, and memorial contributions to First Congregational UCC, 2345 Channing Way, Berkeley CA 94704.  Dan graduated from Colgate Rochester Divinity School and was ordained American Baptist in 1940.  He served two Baptist churches in Illinois, then left the Baptist church and sold life insurance for three years.  In 1948 Dan returned to ministry in the Congregational Church, serving in Southern California, Kensington, Wisconsin, and Berkeley.  Dan was Pastor Emeritus at Arlington Community UCC in Kensington.

Ryan Dowell Baum was ordained by the Bay Association May 22 to do mission work in Zambia through TEEZ - Theological Education by Extension in Zambia - in a four way covenant with First Congregational UCC, Oakland.

Jean Boal was installed by the Sacramento Valley Association April 18 as pastor at Trinity Congregational UCC, Weaverville.

Community UCC, Clarksburg rededicated its renovated new sanctuary on May 23.

Community UCC, La Selva Beach rededicated its renovated sanctuary, social hall and education buildings on May 23.

Jeff Crews has been licensed to serve as sabbatical replacement pastor for Frank Baldwin at Community UCC, Orinda this summer.

Kate Dalton was ordained May 8 by the Golden Gate Association at Community Congregational UCC, Tiburon.  She serves as campus minister at United Campus Christian Ministry, UC Santa Cruz.

Kimberly Elliot resigned from College Heights UCC, San Mateo on April 11 to take a call as the pastor to the English speaking congregation at the Presbyterian Church in Chinatown, San Francisco.

Beth Erickson was installed by the Sacramento Valley Association in May in a four way covenant with Mercy Hospital, Folsom and Congregational UCC, Elk Grove.

First Congregational UCC, Berkeley celebrated the 15th anniversary of being Open and Affirming on April 11.

First Congregational UCC, Porterville has called John Eby (American Baptist) to serve as pastor.

Wilfried Glabach has resigned from First Congregational UCC, San Francisco as of July 18 to take a call as pastor and hospital chaplain in Bad Neuenahr, Rhineland, Germany, where he is from and  holds standing in the Protestant Church of the Rhineland.

Edwin C. Gomke died April 1 at age 91.  A memorial service was held April 10 at Parkside UCC, Sacramento.  He is survived by his wife Pauleen Gomke, two sons and a daughter, a granddaughter and two great-grandchildren.  Condolences may be sent to Pauleen Gomke, 4506 Marion Ct., Sacramento CA 95822, and memorial contributions to the Heifer Project, Heifer International, 1 World Ave., Little Rock, AR, 72202.  Ed graduated from Yankton School of Theology, was ordained in 1942 and served as an Army chaplain in Italy during W.W.II, in Korea during that conflict, and in East Africa, earning a Purple Heart, Bronze Star, and other medals.  He served churches in South Dakota, Illinois, Corona del Mar, Novato, Elk Grove, San Carlos, Woodland, Clarksburg, and Sacramento.  Ed was honored as Pastor Emeritus by Elk Grove UCC.  His hobby was painting and he referred to himself as "a famous, humble painter of land and seascapes."

David Howell will be on sabbatical from First Congregational UCC, Palo Alto, from May 24-August 13.

Sandy Hulse was installed by the Golden Gate Association as pastor of St. John’s UCC, San Francisco on May 1.

Jane Grady was honored by Community UCC, La Selva Beach, where she is pastor, on April 18 on the 30th anniversary of her ordination.

Bob Howell retired as pastor at Pilgrim CCC/UCC, Rossmoor UCC June 27.  He was honored there earlier this winter for ten years of service.

Christina Hutchins was awarded the 2010 Jeffrey Smith Editor’s Prize for Poetry by the Missouri Review in March.

Nobu Katagiri, widow of Mineo Katagiri, our second Conference minister, died in May.  Condolences may be sent to their daughter Ioa at 310-393-0411 x7517.

Jennifer Fargo Lathrop will be ordained by the Santa Clara Association August 15 at Foothills UCC, Los Altos, where she is a member, in a four way covenant with Pathways Home Health and Hospice.

Jeanne Loveless (DOC) is the interim pastor at First Congregational UCC, Oakland.

Kyle Lovett has been called as pastor of the Church of the Crossroads UCC, Honolulu.

Raymond Magee died last July.  He was a longtime UCC minister and peace activist in the US and overseas, especially in Central America.

Bill McKinney retired in June after 14 years as president of Pacific School of Religion.  He and his wife Linda will be moving to Cape Cod.  Hubert Locke will serve as acting president this summer.

Jeff Munnis was ordained by the Bay Association June 6 and will serve Trinity UCC, Bellefonte, PA.

T’Shala Olivieri was installed April 18 by the Santa Clara Association at First Congregational UCC, San Jose, in a four way covenant with Skyland UCC, Los Gatos, where she is a member, and Odyssey Health Care Hospice.

Derril Peabody has completed his term as interim minister at First Congregational UCC, Reno.

Rich Smith has been called as pastor of First Congregational UCC, Reno, as of July 15.

Ricardo Soriano has begun his service as acting minister at First Filipino-American UCC, San Bruno.

Marjorie Wilkes and Bob Matthews married March 6 at First Congregational UCC, Alameda, with Skip Holiday and Lois Mueller presiding.

Michelle Webber is on sabbatical this summer from Foothills UCC, Los Altos. Courtney Stange-Tregear is her sabbatical replacement.

Fred Weidmann was installed by the Bay Association on April 18 as pastor at Hillcrest UCC, Pleasant Hill.

Ray Welles is associate for eldering ministry at Hillcrest UCC, Pleasant Hill.

Barry Willbanks will serve as sabbatical replacement for Elane O’Rourke at Congregational UCC, Campbell this summer.

Marty Williams was installed by the Bay Association May 14 at NCNC Annual Gathering as associate Conference minister for the Sequoia and Mountain Valley Associations, in a four way covenant with United UCC/DOC Livermore, where she is pastor.

Paul Wrightman began March 17 as pastor of the Community Church of the Monterey Peninsula, Carmel.

Rick Yramategui, UCC pastor of Carmel Valley Community Chapel, was honored as distinguished alum of the year by his alma mater, United Theological Seminary of the Twin Cities on April 28th.
