Summer Camps 2010

Over 250 campers got to spend a week this summer being reminded they are loved and valued by God and our greater church community.  They were also reminded that they too can “Be A Hero,” using their power to share God’s love with each other and to shape our world for the good.  This would not have been possible without the over 85 adult and young adult volunteers willing to share their valuable time, energy and talents with our conference.  On Sunday, September 12th, a number of our churches will participate in Camp Appreciation Day to help us recognize and give thanks for all these volunteers.

Outdoor Ministries events help us live out our “Extravagant Welcome” to some of the younger members of our church – testifying to God’s abundant, inclusive and justice-seeking love. In some of our churches, there may be few children, youth or young adults present in the community.  Wider church outdoor ministries events, such as summer camp, fall youth event and confirmation camp remind and encourage them that they are not alone.

Thanks to all who participated this summer – all those who planned and implemented programs, transported campers to and from camp, contributed to scholarships as well as those who showed up and had the time of their lives!
